Hiker-Only Trail Extension Coming to South Table

Jeffco Parks & Open Space acquired an easement to build an official, public, hike-only trail connection between the eastern end of the Jawbone Ridge Trail and the Welch Ditch Trail. The construction formalizes a social trail from the top of the mesa access at 20th and Ellis to the statue next to Montrachet Apartment Homes. The project includes constructing stairs, improving soft-surface trail segments, and restoring disturbed areas. Like the Jawbone Ridge Trail, this connection will be hike-only to protect sensitive resources. The trail will remain open to hikers during construction when safety allows. Please be aware of crews and equipment. Bikes and equestrians are encouraged to continue using Tertiary Trail and Ancient Palms Trail. Construction began earlier this summer and is expected to continue into 2027.

Additionally, the Lava Loop trail atop South Table is now open again, after a seasonal nesting closure to protect raptors.

A reminder that only Class 1 e-bikes are allowed on soft-surface trails in Jeffco Parks & Open Space. Class 3 e-bikes and e-motorcycles are not allowed on trails in Jeffco parks.
